Temple Run is the endless runner from Imangi Studios that largely defined the genre on mobile. You play an explorer who has taken an idol from a temple, and the demonic monkeys guarding it want it back โ so you run, and you do not stop.
Four controls carry the whole game. Swipe up to jump gaps, down to slide under obstacles, left and right to turn corners, and tilt the device to lean across the path and collect coins. The track generates procedurally ahead of you and speeds up the longer you survive, so the game is ultimately a test of reaction time under steadily increasing pressure.
Coins collected during a run buy power-ups and upgrades between runs: coin magnets, invisibility, boosts that carry you forward through a stretch of track, and head starts. Additional characters unlock as your cumulative score rises.
There is no ending and no levels. A run lasts until you hit an obstacle, mistime a turn or fall, and the only progression is your own distance and the upgrades funding the next attempt.
