Palworld is an open-world survival and creature-collection game from Pocketpair, an independent studio based in Japan. It entered early access in January 2024 on Windows and Xbox, and drew an unusually large audience in its opening weeks.
The premise combines two genres that rarely sit together. You explore an open world, catch creatures called Pals, and build a base โ but the Pals are also your workforce. Assigned to a base they mine, farm, craft, generate power and haul materials, so a settlement keeps running while you are away exploring. Each species has its own work aptitudes, which turns team-building into a logistics problem as much as a collecting one.
Survival systems sit underneath all of it. You gather resources, manage hunger and temperature, research new technology through a tech tree, and build shelter against a day and night cycle. Combat uses firearms and equipment alongside your Pals, and bosses guarding the world's tower dungeons are the main progression gates.
Multiplayer supports co-operative play on shared servers, letting several players build in one world and raid bosses together. As an early-access title the game is still being developed in the open, with the roadmap covering additional regions, PvP and further Pal species.
